There are so many books in the world and it can be hard to know where to start. But everyone should make time in their life to read these 10 classics. They’re all amazing works of literature that will stay with you long after you finish them.

1. To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee

This Pulitzer Prize-winning novel was first published in 1960 and is set in the fictional town of Maycomb, Alabama, during the 1930s. The story is told from the perspective of Scout Finch, a young girl who witnesses the racial injustice and bigotry that her father, Atticus Finch, an upstanding lawyer, is trying to fight against.

2. The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald

Published in 1925, this novel is set in the wealthy Long Island community of West Egg during the 1920s “Jazz Age”. It follows the story of Jay Gatsby, a self-made man who is desperately in love with the beautiful and unattainable Daisy Buchanan.

3. One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel García Márquez

This 1967 novel tells the story of the Buendía family, who are among the founders of the town of Macondo, based on a real town in Colombia. The book follows the lives of seven generations of Buendías, and explores themes such as love, war, religion, and solitude.

4. Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoevsky

This psychological thriller was first published in 1866 and is set in St. Petersburg, Russia. It follows the story of Rodion Raskolnikov, a poor student who commits murder in order to test his own theories about crime and punishment.
